‘Out Of Stock’ Opening at StolenSpace this week:

Organized and curated by Toby Renton and Adam Johns, the exhibiton ‘Out Of Stock’ opens this Thursday at StolenSpace.

Out Of Stock is a celebration of one of London’s finest classic skate parks.
As the years have gone by, the landscape of skateboarding in the capital has changed for better and worse, despite some testing times Stockwell skate park still remains one of London’s most loved. With a dramatic rise in popularity and a shift in public opinion over the last twenty years, skateboarding in Britain is for the first time experiencing a generational gap between those currently participating in the culture and those that have now retired. Though the physical activity of skateboarding has changed little, the ever more exposed culture of skateboarding has opened up to a wider audience and has as a result, enriched the social network of individuals involved. It is often said that the discipline and determination it takes to be a successful skateboarder or BMX rider inevitably improves other facets of your life – that the patience and tenacity to achieve helps to develop skills in other practices and improve focus. Through this exhibition, we aim to prove and reveal the truth in this belief through the high level of creative work submitted from the Stockwell skate community. It was in fact this very realisation that gave birth to the concept of the show.
