StolenSpace presents ‘Pity the Meat’ the new immersive performance based show by British artist Pauline Amos.
Combining performance, painting and sound works in the gallery space, Amos creates a multi-sensory experience. The work is bold; the visual tendencies are deeply involved in the street art aesthetic, with the use of typography together with abstracted elements of everyday life.
The painting and sound performance will take place during an 8 day installation at the gallery, with sound installation composed by Amos and Paz Caplin.
With ‘Pity the Meat’, Amos aims to create a surrealist “graffito” ambiance, based on the Surrealist ideal of a subconsciously channelled apolitical art. The title itself is an homage to the work of Deleuze and Francis Bacon.
The large painted canvases are removed from the flat walls and manipulated into pyramidal towers, reminiscent of bodily carcasses and become ‘The Carcass Canvases’ originally developed and exhibited by the artist in 2013.
